Preserve

Preserve® is an eco-friendly line of products with a Personal Care line that includes toothbrushes, tongue cleaners, and toothpicks.
In 1996, founder and president Eric Hudson was committed to using Earth’s resources more efficiently and responsibly. He worked with dentists, scientists and engineers to create Preserve’s first high-quality product from recycled plastics – the Preserve Toothbrush. Since then, Preserve has grown to offer a range of products for almost every room in your home. In 2001, Preserve and Stonyfield Farm partnered to keep (literally) tons of plastic out of landfills. Preserve collects cups and scrap plastic from Stonyfield’s manufacturing facility in nearby New Hampshire, as well as used cups, which are then turned into Preserve Toothbrushes, Tongue Cleaners and Razors. Preserve also turns used materials into razors, colanders, cutting boards and tableware. Today, the Preserve team is made up of 15 people and a host of talented interns who bike, walk, train and drive (some in bio-diesel fueled cars) to its office outside of Boston, intent on bringing Preserve and our mission into more homes everyday.

FAQs
Where can I buy Preserve dental products?
Preserve products are available at thousands of retail locations in the US, Canada and United Kingdom, including Target stores, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods Market.
Are Preserve plastics safe?
Yes! We believe strongly in making our products as safe and healthy as possible for you and your family. All of our plastics are tested for heavy metals and exceed the Environmental Protection Agency drinking water standards. If we don’t feel comfortable giving a product to our families, we won’t sell it to yours.
Why does the Preserve toothbrush have a curved handle?
The curve in the Preserve’s handle promotes a more natural and comfortable feel to allow brushing at all angles. This ergonomic feature was designed with dental professionals to help you brush along the gumline where it easily reaches the forgotten areas where plaque hides.
How can I recycle my Preserve products?
You can use Preserve’s postage-paid label to return our toothbrushes, razor handles, tongue cleaners and their packaging to be recycled into plastic lumber. Please wait to mail in your toothbrushes until you have a few products to return. You can include up to 13 ounces of products in each of Preserve’s postage-paid mailers.
Here are the weights of our commonly returned products:
- 1 Preserve Toothbrush with container (0.9 ounces)
- 1 Preserve Jr. Toothbrush with container (0.6 ounces)
- 1 Preserve tongue cleaner (0.4 ounces)
What do you do with the toothbrushes and tongue cleaners that get returned to Preserve?
We work with a company to grind down the returned products, bristles and all, into plastic lumber to be used for park benches, decks and other useful products.
Where do I send my used #5 plastic?
We frequently hear from frustrated Preservers who live in parts of the country that don’t accept #5 plastics for recycling. That is why we have set up our own Preserve Gimme 5 recycling program to transform your used, clean #5 plastics into brand new Preserve products.
